In the beginning, Human Intelligence Technology (or Hi-Tech) was conceived as a company to develop and manufacture foot orthotics. The name of the company was given to us by Tim King, a dear friend and colleague from overseas who worked with Jim Smith Sales/Smith Global towards the end of their operations. When Jim and Joy closed their distributorship in 2008, Kyle and Joy seized the opportunity to bring in some product lines distributed by Jim Smith Sales, including the Jim Smith Filler Sock, Royal Knit, and Tex-Care Medical. They also quickly added well-known lines such as the Genesis Feet from MICA Corporation. From the outset, the goal of Hi-Tech was not to serve as a distributor, but rather as a manufacturer's representative. This ambition led to the hiring of Kyle's sister, Christy Smith, as the Director of Marketing and Graphic Design.
A New Chapter in the Pacific Northwest. In 2010, Kyle and his family relocated to Washington state to become the sales arm of MICA Corp, located in Longview, WA. Kyle, his wife, and their three daughters quickly fell in love with the Pacific Northwest.
A Milestone Achievement! In 2016, Hi-Tech became the first and only company to sell and distribute the Soft Skin Air liners from Uniprox, the world's first breathable liner! We are still proud to represent this innovative line today, along with many other groundbreaking product lines, including Jim Smith Filler Sock from Zens Manufacturing, Royal Knit, Tex Care Medical, Legworks, Thrive Orthopedic, Gaffney Technology, EZ Trim Socket Edging, Shower Leg, Fusion Cover, and Coyote, with new ones continually emerging on the horizon.
A New Home! Initially, the Hi-Tech office was located in Laurie, MO, until Christy relocated to Springfield in 2014, prompting the move of the Hi-Tech office to Springfield, MO.
Building Relationships and Representing Innovation. Over the years, we have represented and built up many product lines, establishing new relationships, particularly in the Northwest, where Kyle spent a majority of his time traveling.
Looking Forward. Today, we are always on the lookout for new and innovative products. As independent manufacturers' representatives, we give products the attention they deserve rather than letting them collect dust on a shelf. This approach is particularly effective for new companies looking to promote a new product without the expenses associated with hiring a sales force.
